Octopus Rush
Description
“Some see life, others only see-food. In Octopus Rush, you play as a little squid who's escaping from the clutches of the evil chef, who wants to turn you into sushi. Fling yourself across a procedurally generated sushi restaurant. Don't fall off, and try not to bump into anything...”
My Role
In this project I was mainly responsible for assembling and programming the custom controller and handling all the inputs on the game side. I was also responsible for the pick-ups and worked on the movement of the octopus' legs. This project taught me a lot about micro controllers and about sending and receiving inputs between pc and a micro controller (in this case a teensy). The biggest challenge in the project was the short dev cycle, this also means that the 3d printed version of the controller was only made after the fact after we learned the project was going to be displayed at a foreign university by one of our teachers.
Playing the game
As the game is based around a custom controller and it is unfeasible to make more than the ones we made it's also possible to play via keyboard using the ASDFJKL; keys. It will take a bit to get used to but it's completely playable with the build linked below!
